4B – Cecile Lewis
I am an artisan/teacher utilizing textile arts to encourage curiosity, communication, growth, and healing for myself and my fellow human beings. Textiles hold a historical record of our time on this planet and are common to all of us. Whether for utility, decoration, spiritual expression, or any of the myriad ways we put them to use, textiles are a common thing that we humans share. We are bound together by a long, old thread.
I have been privileged to work with wonderfully diverse communities in the Twin Cities including the Hmong Cultural and Language Program, Twin Cities Housing Development Corporation’s Plus Time, Textile Center of Minnesota, Weaver’s Guild of Minnesota, Penumbra Theatre and Minnesota History Center, to name a few. I know the healing and understanding that travels along this old thread. That’s why I do what I do.
